Foundation laid for Rs 93 crore CG jetty

Coast Guard Director General Rajendra Singh today laid the foundation stone for construction of a Coast Guard jetty at Mattanchery near here.

The project involves construction of a 220x15 metre long jetty which will be undertaken through Cochin Port Trust as a turnkey project, an official release said.

The project is worth Rs 93 crore and is expected to be completed in 208 weeks, it said.

"The foundation stone laying ceremony is an important event in the evolution of the Indian Coast Guard district headquarters at Kochi as it is in line with the expansion plans of ICG which isin the process of augmenting its onshore and offshore capabilities to enhance operational capabilities of ICG in peninsular India including Lakshadweep islands," the release said.
 

Singh was on a visit to Kerala toreview the operations and infrastructure development in the southernmost state of the country.
