Foundation stone for Muthoot Institute laid

Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit today laid the foundation stone for the Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) at nearby Puthencuruz.

The ceremony was blessed by H.H. Baselious Marthoma Paulose II, Malankara Meeropolitan and Catholicos of the East, Dr Thomas Mar Athanasius, Bishop, Kandanady (East) Malankara Orthodox Church in the presence of M G George Muthoot,Chairman, Muthoot Group, George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Group and George Varghese, Director, MITS.

The engineering institute is part of the educational division of Muthoot Group, a diversified conglomerate and one of India's leading business entities.

MITS, situated in the industrial belt of Kochi, has received AICTE approval and is affiliated to MG University for their five engineering branches, including Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering. MITS also has facilities like central computing, central library, central workshop, and separate hostels for boys and girls.
 

MITS offers a reduced annual tuition fee of Rs 8,500 only, equivalent to the fee offered in Government Engineering College to merit students.

The students eligible for this concessional fee need to be amongst the first 10,000 ranks in the state entrance examination or should have received over 90 per cent marks in Mathematics.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Prof K V Thomas, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution; P Dileep Kumar, Vice Chancellor Sanskrit University among others.
