Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh today laid the foundation stone for an interchange on the Yamuna Expressway, which officials said will reduce traffic congestion once completed.

Though it has been projected that construction of the Jewar interchange will be completed in 18 months, the company engaged in the project hopes to get it done in nine months, he said.

"The state government has issued directions for an additional payment of 64.7 per cent compensation as demanded by farmers," the MLA from Jewar said.

He said in the next two years the infrastructure in Jewar will improve.

Singh said during the elections he had promised to reduce traffic woes of Jewar and in this direction he had "got the interchange approved from state government".

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority's additional chief executive officer, Amarnath Upadhyay, and Jewar SDM Shubhi Kakan among others were present on the occasion.
