Foundation stone of 10KW FM transmitter laid in Meerut

The government is determined to increase the FM reach of All India Radio in a manner that the whole country gets the benefit, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore today said.

He said this while laying the foundation stone of a 10KW FM transmitter for All India Radio's new FM set up here.

"AIR, Meerut is a significant milestone which will cater to the hitherto forgotten Korvi-speaking Western Uttar Pradesh populace," he said.

A statement by Prasar Bharati said the scheme for setting up the 10 KW AIR FM Station with limited studio facility here has been approved in 12th plan schemes of AIR at the cost of Rs 7.94 crore.
 

Transmitter and associated equipment are under procurement and it is likely to take about two years for completion of the project, the statement said.
