Four Adharwadi jail inmates booked for possessing cell phone

Four inmates of the Adharwadi jail at Kalyan were booked for allegedly possessing a cell phone, police said today.

Police constable at Bazarpeth peth police station A G Chavan said, according to the complaint lodged by jail personnel Sumanta Rajput, a cell phone was recovered from room no 22 of circle no. 6 in the jail from possession of an inmate Rupesh Jirale, while he was on duty.

Three more inmates, who share the same barrack, have also been booked, Chavan said, adding, they were Bushan More, Mahendara Kevat, and Zahid Hamid Shaikh.

All the four inmates have been charged under relevant sections of the Prisons Rule, 1894 and IPC, he said.
 

Further investigation into the matter was on, he said.
