Two country-made pistols, two knives and a tempo were seized from their possession after the arrest last night, they said, adding that the accused used to rob locked houses.

They have been identified as Virrendra, Khalid, Rakesh and Naseemuddin, all aged between 25 and 35 years, and residents of Ghaziabad district, a senior police official said.

"We got information that some robbers are planning to execute a robbery in Modi Nagar area near a petrol pump located on Hapur Road," the official said.

A police team was sent there and all accused were arrested, he said, adding that they are wanted in several cases of robbery.

The official claimed the accused have confessed to their involvements in a number of criminal cases across the district.
