Four arrested after clash between local residents

Four persons were today arrested after cases and counter cases were registered at the Tangra Police Station over a clash between local residents in Suarmari basti in the area, the police said.

The incident happened at the wee hours of the day when a few locals in the Suarmari basti allegedly broke into a shanty belonging to Rahul Roy, a member of the ruling Trinamool Congress, whose legs were amputated in an attack this March, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.

Prosenjit Das alias Kulti Das (26), Bablu Das, Raja Rana (32) and Rajen Rai were arrested in connection with the matter, he said.
 

Roy (38), a Trinamool supporter from the locality, lost both of his legs in an attack allegedly by rival party supporters this March.

He was found on the side of railway tracks between Sealdah and Bidhannagar Road with his legs severed from knee. The victim was a close aide of a former Trinamool councillor.

Today morning, Usha Rana (44) of the locality lodged complaints against Ashok Mallick, Rama Rana, Saka Roy, Laltu Baidya, Kunti Das and Bablu Das and others of Suarmari basti.

Another complaint was lodged by Sonia Rai (45) against Rajend Rai, Raja Rana, Tinku Pramanick, Kanuar Rana and Sanjib Das all of the same area.

Another Ganga Roy also lodged a complaint alleging that during the incident, he was attacked by locals and had received injuries.

Accordingly another case was recorded against Tinku Pramanick, Kanowar Rana, Subham Roy and Sachin Rana all of Suarmari Bustee.

"Soon after the recording of case, one Tumpa Das lodged a complaint against Rama Rana, Ashok Mallick, Kaju Rana, Shyam Dulara Rana, Laltu Roy and Dilip Mallick and a new case recorded at the Tangra Police Station," the officer said.

Investigations of the all cases were in progress, he added.
