Four arrested for assaulting policemen

Four persons were today arrested for allegedly beating up a police patrol party here.

According to Kalwa police, the incident took place in the wee hours when the policemen--head constable Pralhad Bhamre and constable Pankaj Dabha-- came across four suspicious persons sitting in an isolated place near the Kharegaon toll plaza with handkerchiefs tied on their faces.

As soon as cops questioned them, they began arguing with the policemen which resulted in a scuffle following which they allegedly roughed up the cops and fled from the spot.

Later the four men identified as Sagar Jayant Patil 32, Anant Krishna Patil 49, Pratesh Anant Patil 19 and Akash Jayhind Patil 35 were arrested.
 

The accused have been booked under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from performing duty )and 332 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).
