Four arrested for Maoist violence during polls

Four tribals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the April 24 landmine blast that killed eight polling and police personnel and left 11 injured at Asnajore in Dumka district of Jharkhand, the police said here.

Thirty-five-year-old Budhu Murmu and his brother Shom Murmu (32) were arrested today at a village under Shikaripara police station on charges that they had dug up and planted landmine exploded by the Maoists, Deputy Superintendent of Police A K Srivastav said here.

Their sister Tala Kuri was arrested along with Baburam Baski (35) on Monday on charges of harbouring the left-wing rebels, Srivastav added.
 

Meanwhile, Jharkhand police chief Rajeev Kumar reportedly recommended suspension of Dumka SP Nirmal Kumar Mishra on charges of negligence.

The violence marred the third and final phase polling in Jharkhand.
