Four youths, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the alleged gangrape of a girl in Jharkhand's Palamu district, a senior police officer said today.
The 16-year-old girl, in her complaint, had said one of the four youths, an acquaintance, had on Tuesday taken her to an isolated place, where the other three joined him in raping her, Palamu Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha said.
She visited the police station next morning with her father to lodge a complaint, the SP said.
"Based on the findings of a preliminary investigation, three men and the minor boy were booked under IPC sections and POCSO Act," he told reporters.
The boy would be produced before the Juvenile Board before being sent away to a remand home, he said.
The girl's statement has been recorded and the police are investigating into the matter, Mahatha said, adding that the medical report of the victim hasn't arrived yet.
