Four arrested for selling lottery tickets

Police have arrested four persons for being involved in illegal sale of lottery tickets in Jharkhand's Pakur district.

Sub-divisional police officer of Pakur Kaushal Kishore said today that the district police arrested the four yesterday during a drive.

A case was lodged against them under section 290 of IPC (punishment for public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for in the code) and section 7(3) of Lottery act,1998 (punishment for distribution or purchase of lottery ticket), he said.

Kishore said though Jharkhand government had imposed ban on sale of lottery tickets in the state, the accused procured it from adjoining West Bengal and sold them here.
