Four persons have been arrested for allegedly being involved in selling a newborn boy with the help of an Asha worker here, police said today.

Following the child's birth at the district hospital here, his father, with the help of the three others, sold the child without informing the mother, they said.

The matter came to light after the child's mother filed a missing complaint, police said.

The newborn child has been recovered, while his father Sachin, asha worker Sunita, and a couple Vikas and Sonia have been arrested, they said, adding Rs 95,000 out of Rs one lakh Sachin received for selling the child have been recovered.

However, the couple who had "bought" the child have not been arrested yet and they are cooperating in the investigation, police said.
