"18-year-old Mohammed Danish, Salim (20), Sadab (19) and Owaish (18), were arrested after getting secret information about their involvement in the blind murder case of Ranjit Shah, a resident of Bihar's Sitamarhi district on Sunday night," a senior police official said.
On Sunday last, police received information from LNJP Hospital that a 25-year-old unknown person was found unconscious near Delhi Gate Chowk red light. He was declared dead by the doctors.
During investigations, the deceased was identified as Ranjit Shah, who was working as a labourer in a firm at Shivaji Bridge near Minto Road, the official said.
"Police yesterday got information that Danish and his accomplices could be involved in the murder of Shah. Danish was arrested and mobile phone of Shah was recovered from his possession," said D C Srivastva, ACP Central district.
Danish said that around 10.15 PM, he and his accomplices Salim, Shadab, Owaish and Saquib were having beer at Tikona Park near Delhi Gate Chowk.
At about 10.30 PM, Shah and his relative Shiv Shanker were coming from Raj Ghat side and going towards Guru Nanak Chowk. Shiv Shanker stopped near Delhi Gate Chowk before red light to attend nature's call.
Danish and his associates stopped him and tried to snatch his mobile and purse. On this, the deceased resisted, accused Danish and Saquib caught hold the hand of the deceased and accused Salim stabbed him twice on the stomach and chest, he said.
