Four arrested for steel plant contract employee's murder

The city police claimed to have solved the sensational murder case of a youth today, who was found dead with his face was totally smashed in a pit at Nadupuru area under Duvvada police station limits in the city on July 9, this year.

Four youth have been arrested in this connection and the police said that it is a case of murder for gain, since the prime accused in the case hired three people to kill the man.

Addressing reporters here today, DCP (Zone-II) G Ram Gopal Naik said that the deceased was identified as 27-year-old Klement Ekka from Jharkhand who worked as a contract employee at Vizag Steel Plant (VSP), and a resident of Pedagantyada area in the city.
 

The four accused have been identified as M Babloo Kumar (26), Umesh Badaik (27), Kishore Kumar (26) and Amit Kumar (23), who worked along with Klement Ekka, he said.

Babloo Kumar and Umesh Badaik are natives of Jharkhand while Kishore Kumar and Amit Kumar are natives of Odisha, who reside at Pedagantyada area in the city, he said.

Initially, the police failed to ascertain the identity of the deceased, since his head was totally smashed, he said.

Ekka's ATM card was missing and someone withdrew Rs 83,000 from his account at various ATM kiosks, he said.

During investigation, the Duvvada police learnt that Babloo Kumar had borrowed Rs 30,000 from Ekka around six months ago, he said.

Despite repeated requests, Babloo refused to repay the loan to Ekka and he decided to kill Ekka.

Babloo and Umesh Badaik, Kishore Kumar as well as Amit Kumar obtained Ekka's ATM card PIN after which they killed him on July 9, he said.

The police arrested them and seized Rs 28,000 from them, he said.
