Few tourists from Meerut were roughed up by some locals last evening following a tiff over parking of cars in Company Bagh area, sources said.

Although the tourists lodged a complaint, no action reportedly was taken by the police.

Later the tourists approached Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, who intervened into the matter today following which the four accused were arrested.

The chief minister also ordered a probe by SSP Dehradun Neeru Garg into the matter and said he "would not tolerate any such incident in future", sources said.

The CM also directed the police to provide security to tourists.

With the rush of tourists from plains due to summer, parking in hilly areas has become a major issue due to space constraints.
