Four persons were arrested for opening fire at a contractor and allegedly trying to kill him in Odisha's Ganjam district and seized two firearms from them, police said today.
The firearms seized from the accused, whio was arrested yesterday from Golia village, included a single-shot pistol, one country-made gun besides eight rounds of ammunitions, said inspector-in charge Buguda police station R K Dey.
The accused, who have been identified, had allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate the contractor and fired at him near a temple on December 26.
They missed their target and the man escaped, the police said adding old enmity over tender process was the reason behind the incident.
