Machilipatnam District Superintendent of Police D Sravan Kumar told reporters today that the pregnancy of P Durga Devi of Dodlapalem village in Krishna district was terminated by a nurse at a clinic on July 12, after a gender determination test confirmed that she was carrying a baby girl.

The police official identified the accused as the woman's husband T V Nagababu, mother-in-law P Leelavathi, an unqualified nurse P Satyavathi and A Venkata Ratnam, a registered medical practitioner.

Cases have been registered against the four accused and they will be produced before a local court on Wednesday, the police official said.

"We are yet to trace the clinic where the gender detection test was conducted. Investigation is on to nab the people involved in the case," the police official said.
