Police claimed to have busted a major inter-state drug racket with the arrest of four persons here with smack worth over Rs 80 lakh in their possession.
Acting on a tip off, a police team arrested Alok, Giriraj, Furkan and Kafeel from Dhoomanganj area of the city and seized 850 grams of smack, worth about Rs 85 lakh in the international market, SSP Mohit Agrawal said.
Giriraj, a Rajasthan native who lived in Dimapur district of Nagaland, used to allegedly bring narcotics from the north-eastern state to UP where Allahabad resident Alok, Furkan and Kafeel from Barabanki, used to help him in smuggling the contraband across the state.
Three mobile sets and about Rs 75,000 in cash were also recovered from the accused, all of whom have been booked under the Narcotics Act, Agrawal said.
