Police today booked four persons for duping a man of Rs 60,000 on the pretext of sending him on a trip to Singapore.
Police has identified the accused as Surinder, Rohit, Angad and Preet of Phagwara.
All four have been booked under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of IPC, police said.
A case against them was registered on a complaint of Ankur Thakur of village Chak Sachuri falling under Sujanpur police station, they said.
The complainant told police that the four flaunted themselves to be in the business of international tour package.
He said that he and his wife wished to have a trip to Singapore and the four demanded Rs 1.4 lakh under the package. He gave them Rs 60,000 in advance as per their demand.
Later, Thakur was unable to reach them when he tried to contact them on phone to enquire about the trip.
"When I came to Phagwara for meeting them in their office, none was available," he said.
