Four persons from the minority Christian community in Pakistan were killed today after gunmen opened fire on a rickshaw in south-western Balochistan province.

The four Christians were travelling in a rickshaw on Shah Zaman road when they were attacked by gunmen on a motorbike in Quetta, police said.

"All four died in the gun attack and the attackers fled after the crime," a police officer said. A minor girl was also injured in the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which appeared as targeted killing, police said.

Christians make up around two per cent of Pakistan's mainly Muslim population of 180 million. They have been targeted in attacks and riots in recent years, often over allegations of blasphemy.
