Four cops fined for implicating old man in false robbery cases

BHRC member Neelmani passed the order while disposing an application filed by 70 year-old Ajit Nat and also asked the police department to initiate departmental action against the errant policemen.

The Rs one lakh fine collected from the four from their salaries would be handed over to Nat as compensation latest by February 28, he ordered.

Nat had charged the four policemen with violating his human rights by implicating him in five fake dacoity cases in three police stations in Sitamarhi district and filing a charge sheet before a court in 2010 as a result of which he spent about eight months in jail in 2010.

 

The BHRC found the four - Riga police station SHO Anirudh Prasad Singh, assistant sub-inspectors at Runnisaidpur police station Devendra Singh and Vakil Singh and assistant sub-inspector of Parsauni police station Arvind Kumar guilty after investigation.
