Four policemen, including a woman constable, were suspended today for alleged extortion by them from truck drivers in Transport Nagar area here.
Head Constable Tarachand, Constables Manju Godara, Mohan Lal and Badriprasad, all on patrol duty, were allegedly extorting money from truck drivers and were suspended on the spot when the matter came to light during a sudden checking, DCP (East) Amandeep Singh Kapoor said.
They were attached to PCR van under Transport nagar police station. On the report of the police team that held a sudden inspection, the four were suspended.
The matter is being probed by ACP Gandhi Nagar Tejpal.
