Four criminals killed in Muzaffarpur

Four persons, stated to be criminals, were shot dead in two incidents in Muzaffarpur, the police said today.

All the four were notorious criminals and wanted in several cases of dacoity, murder and kidnapping for ransom, Muzaffarpur SSP Ranjit Kumar Mishra today said.

In the first incident, Manoj Singh and Mukund Mishra alias Mitthu were shot dead by a group of men at a motel at Maksoodpur under Minapur police station, the SSP said.

"Manoj and Mukund were members of the notorious Shambu - Mantu gang and accused in over two dozen cases of dacoity, murder and extortion. They were eating at the motel, when the assailants attacked and killed them," the SSP said.
 

In the second incident, Ram Pravesh Singh and his driver Dinanath Bhagat were riddled with bullets by four motorcycle-borne assailants at Kalibari Road under Mithanpura Police Station in Muzaffarpur city.

The SSP said Ram Pravesh was a named accused in a murder case of one Mantu Sharma at Motihari in East Champaran district around six months ago.

"Ram Pravesh was coming from a red-light area in the city when the assailants fired from sophisticated weapons on his SUV. He and his driver died before being taken to hospital. Ram Pravesh was active in East Champaran, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur districts in various crimes including kidnapping for ransom," the SSP said.

So far three persons have been identified to be involved in the two incidents and raids are being conducted to nab them.
