Four crushed to death as truck rams into road-side shop

Four persons, including a woman government teacher and a foreigner, died on the spot and three others were injured in a road mishap near here, police said today.

The mishap took place when a speeding cement-laden truck hit a motorbike and then rammed into a road-side shop at RV Nagar under GK Veedhi police station limits, they said.

DSP of Chintapalle Anil K said the deceased were identified as Krishna Kumari (50), Headmistress of government- run RV Nagar Tribal Welfare School, Karri Raju (30), G Palasundari (40) and Subrahmanyam Ganesh (26), a Sri Lankan resident.

The four were waiting for a bus near the road-side shop when the truck hit them. All of them died on the spot, he said.
 

The motorcyclist and his pillion rider, identified as Easwar Rao (35) and Mohan Rao (34), respectively, were injured along with another person, P Palav (65), the police officer said.

He said the truck was heading towards Chintapalle when the driver lost control over the vehicle at a sharp bend, resulting in the mishap.
