Four die due to extreme heat in North India

The national capital Delhi today sweltered at a maximum of 41.5 degrees celsius, five notches above normal and a minimum of 29.5 degrees celsius coupled with high humidity reaching upto 77 per cent.

Four people fell prey to the intense heat wave conditions in Bikaner in Rajasthan during the last 48 hours.

A BSF employee Manohar Lal was found dead in his residence this morning, police said adding prima facie it seems he died of a heat stroke. The post-mortem report is awaited.

A police constable Mahaveer Singh who fell sick due to heat stroke was hospitalised on Tuesday and died yesterday. He was posted in police lines.

 

Two unidentified persons, possibly beggars, also died due to heat stroke over the last couple of days.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurred at few places in Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours with heavy rains at one or two places, including the state capital, Lucknow.

Though the day temperatures fell appreciably yesterday in Gorakhpur and Kanpur divisions, they were markedly above normal in Allahabad, Jhansi, Varanasi, Kanpur and Agra divisions. MORE
