Four drown in Vatrak river in Gujarat

Two youths died while two others went missing as they drowned in river Vatrak in Kheda district today, police said.

The incident occurred when a group of 14 youths, all aged between 20-22, from Ahmedabad city visited Siddhi Vinayak temple located on the banks of Vatrak river in Mahemdavad taluka today. While they were taking bath in the river, four of them slipped into the deep waters, they said.

"Fire brigade personnel fished out bodies of two boys while the other two are still missing," Mahemdavad taluka police station sub-inspector R I Solanki said.

The deceased were identified as Vishal Shivrambhai Khernar (20) and Shivam Kishorbhai Parekh (20). They belonged to Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad city, Solanki said.
 

The two boys who went missing are -- Abhishek Bharat Pandya and Ronak Rajesh Jhala -- also residents of Vejalpur, he said.

Soon after receiving an alert, police and Nadiad town fire brigade personnel reached the spot and pressed into action.

A case of accidental death has been registered in this connection while search was on to locate the two missing boys, Solanki added.
