Four from WB held for possessing fake notes

Four persons, hailing from West Bengal, were today arrested here and fake Indian currency notes were allegedly seized from their possession, police said.

Giving details, police said one Saleem Sheikh was held and on his information three others -- Ropan Ali, Rafool Sheikh and Mithu Sheikh -- were also arrested.

The arrests were made following a complaint by a shopowner at Pallikaranai, who alleged that Sheikh had given a fake Rs 500 note for a mobile recharge, a city police release said.

Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of face value of Rs 53,500 and Rs 24,410 cash, debit card and a credit card and four mobile phones were recovered from them, it added.
 

The head of the gang, Samjad Sheikh is absconding, it said.
