Four gets 10 yrs RI in dowry death case

Four members of a family were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a fast track court here in a dowry death case.

Special Judge Vimlesh Tanwar convicted Raj Kumar (husband), Shana Ram (father-in-law), Prakasho Devi (mother-in-law) and Rori Devi (sister-in-law) of killing Aasha Devi in 2011 and pronounced the verdict on them.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.

According to prosecution, the victim, who was married to Raj Kumar in 2003, used to be harassed by him and other in-laws.

On October 7, 2011 Mahender Kumar, the father of the deceased received an information that her daughter had died.
 

Later on the complaint of Kumar, a case of dowry death was registered against Raj Kumar and other three members of his family.
