Four hawala racketeers held

City police today claimed to have busted a hawala racket by arresting four members of a gang belonging to Gujarat and Rajasthan and seized cash of over Rs 43 lakhs from them.

Sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force (Central Zone) team apprehended Bakul Kumar Patel and Jayesh Patel (both businessmen from Gujarat), besides Jog Singh Raj Purohit and Narpat Singh Rajput (from Rajasthan) from a premises in Chirag Ali Lane at Abids here, police said.

"Both Bakul Kumar Patel and Jayesh Patel, who came to Hyderabad 10 years ago and suffered loss in their jewellery business, joined with Hawala money organiser Vishnu Solanki, a resident of Mumbai, and under the pretext of jewellery business were doing illegal money transfer business/hawala for the past one-and-half-years," said Task Force Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police N Koti Reddy.
 

Jog Singh Raj Purohit and his assistant Narpat Singh Rajput had been collecting the hawala money from various customers in Hyderabad which they had been sending to one Dood Singh through Bakul Kumar Patel for the last two months, he added.
