Four held for robbing gold smith at knife point in Coimbatore

Four persons were arrested today on charges of robbing a goldsmith of over 1,100 grams of gold ornaments at knife point, after offering him a lift in their car near Mettupalayam, police said.

When the victim, Eswaran was waiting at Mettupalayam bus stand on July 18 to board a bus to Udhagamandalam with the gold ornaments, two persons came in a car and offered a ride.

After reaching a secluded place, they pulled over to the side and took away the ornaments at knife point and dropped Eswaran, who lodged a complaint with police, they said.

Four persons, including Easwaran's nephew were arrested for the committing the robbery, they added.
 

Around 100 sovereign of gold ornaments was recovered and a search is on for another man, who is possessing the remaining 12 sovereigns, police said.
