Police today cracked a robbery case with the arrest of four persons and recovered eight gold biscuits from them, a senior official said.

The recovered gold biscuits, weighing 1 kg, are estimated to worth Rs 27 lakh, he said.

Interestingly, the complainant P Nagesh, who was robbed last week while on his way to Chennai from here, was allegedly a carrier for smuggled gold from Dubai and was supposed to deliver the biscuits to a person, identified as Shagird, in Chennai.

"Nagesh, resident of Kailasapuram area here, was an employee of one Naushad who runs a spare parts shop in Dubai. He had collected 10 gold biscuits from two conduits at Visakhapatnam airport at the behest of Naushad," said ADCP (Crime) S Varada Raju told reporters.

He said Nagesh confided this in his friend D Mohan, who eventually hatched a plan to rob Nagesh and roped in his friends, who on October 27 night intercepted the bus and snatched gold biscuits from Nagest after assaulting him.

The accused are identified as P Gurunadh Reddy (21), P Sivakumar (19), D Mohan (20) and B Murali (28) all residents of Kailasapuram area in the city.

The officer said that the accused had sold two gold biscuits.
