Four held for stealing mobile phones

Four persons, including three members of a gang allegedly involved in stealing mobile phones and selling those on an e-commerce portal, were arrested from different places and hundreds of mobile phones recovered from them, police said today.

Pradeep Kumar, Sonu Ansari and Sarang Singh, involved in stealing a carton of brand new mobile phones from IGI airport on July 1, were arrested, DCP(south) Ishwar Singh said.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Sonu used to sell the mobile phones stolen by them through an e-commerce portal. They had so far sold 22 mobile phones through the website, the officer claimed, adding nine stolen mobile phones have been recovered.
 

In another incident, following the interrogation of one Shariq, arrested in an Arms Act case, Amit Gulati (32) was arrested from Gaffar Market after it was found out that he bought mobile phones stolen by a gang that used to snatch around eight to 10 mobile phones every day, Singh said.

Gulati admitted to have bought mobile phones at cheap rates from Shariq and his two other accomplices Ayan and Shanu, he added.

As many as 239 mobile phones 41 partially dismantled phones and mother boards and 102 mobile batteries were recovered, the officer said.
