Four held in bogus visa case

Four persons were today apprehended at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in the city in a fake visa case, police said.

The four persons were identified as Satish Baldevbhai (24), Jaykishan Chaudhari (23), Nilesh Chaudhari (25) and a travel agent Bharat Chaudhari, Inspector of Sardarnagar police station K K Patel said.

"The immigration staff of the airport held three of them when they were trying to board Air India flight for Canada. The travel agent, Chaudhari, who had come there to drop his clients was also caught at the airport," Patel said.

"Satish and Nilesh had paid Rs 13 lakh to Chaudhari, while Jaykishan paid Rs 15 lakh. With the help of Sindhu, Chaudhari acquired bogus visa of Canada for the three passengers," he added.
 

According to the officer, one more person, identified as Charan Sindhu of Noida town of Uttar Pradesh, who was involved in making fake visas of the three men, is on the run.

The four accused were later handed over to Sardarnagar police for further investigation into the case.

"All the four persons were from different villages in the neighbouring Mehsana district, he said.

The police have registered a case under IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 114 (abetment in an offence) against the accused.
