Wayanad, Rishikesh, Amritsar and Jaisalmer have featured in the top 100 list of high quality services in hotels, in terms of giving the best value for money, according to a study by leading global hotel search website trivago.

In the fourth edition of trivago Best Value Index, Wayanad, located in the Western Ghats in Kerala, has secured ninth position in the world with a score of 96.36 per cent.

Scaling up to 100, the Best Value Index lists the best combined score on consumer rating and average hotel price.

The report noted that Wayanad was famous among the locals and people coming from within the state, but recently it has become an attraction point for more pan-India travellers as well as foreign travellers.

Trivago is the largest online hotel search site, comparingrates from over 9,00,000 hotels on over 250 booking sites worldwide.

Rishikesh, the Himalayan town in Uttarakhand, has made it to the 13th position on the list with a score of 96.24 per cent.

For a long time, Rishikesh has been known only for religious importance, but recently it has emerged with many adventure sports activities, besides gaining significance in the western society as 'World Yoga Capital'.

"It is clear that travellers from the world believe that hotels in these small places like Wayanad and Rishikesh are excelling in serving the customers, keeping them happy and providing best value for their money," Abhinav Kumar from trivago India said.

Holy city Amritsar (Punjab) has featured again on the index, securing 22nd position with 95.70 per cent points. Last year, the city stood at sixth position with a score of 96.52 per cent.

Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, with a score of 95.17 per cent, bagged the 34th rank in the global list.
