Four injured after crane chain snaps

Four workers were injured, two of them seriously, in a mishap in an under construstration plant of a private steel company at Kalinga Nagar in Odisha's Jajpur district today, police said.

The workers were working at the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) site of the plant along with other workers when the mishap occurred, they said.

The injured were rushed to the government hospital at Danagadi and later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack where condition of two was stated to be critical.

The mishap occurred when the chain of a crane lifting iron angles in the plant snapped and heavy objects fell on the workers.
 

"Four workers were injured after iron angles fell on them. Two of them sustained grievous injuries", Additional Superintendent of Police P K Sahani said.
