Four injured as goods train collides with light engine

Four drivers were injured today when a diesel light engine and an electric goods train collided between Plassey and Rejinagar stations on Krishnagar-Lalgola section of Eastern railway today, railway officials said.

Two on-duty and as many off-duty drivers in the engine were injured and were taken to Berhampore general hospital.

The goods train suffered mechanical damage, the officials said.

A medical van with doctors was dispatched from Ranaghat and train services between Krishnagar and Lalgola were suspended, they said.

Eastern railway's additional general manager along with senior officers and divisional railway manager supervised the restoration work.
