Four injured in fire at steel factory

Four employees of a steel factory today sustained serious burn injuries in a major fire inside a unit at Lassipora Industrial Estate in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

Fire broke out in the steel furnace of Diamond Grinding Steel Industries (Industrial Growth Centre) Lassipora this afternoon injuring four outstation employees, a police spokesman said.

The injured were identified as Ganesh Kumar, Ravi Das, Ramu of Uttar Pradesh and Rahi of Bihar, he said, adding, they were taken to a hospital by rescuers who swung into action immediately after receiving information about the fire.

Other employees working in the industry were also taken to safety, the spokesman said, adding, fire tenders along with the police were on the job to control the blaze.
 

The cause of the fire was not known immediately, the spokesman said.
