Four persons, including a 12-year-old girl, received bullet injuries when some miscreants opened fire after a brawl broke out between them and locals over payment at an eatery in east Delhi's Krishna Nagar area, police said today.

The incident was reported around 11 pm last night after a group of around seven persons, all associates of a property dealer in the area, identified as Tarun alias Sonu, allegedly thrashed the owner of a local eatery over payment for some food. Locals gathered around the spot and opposed the act, said a police officer.

They then took shelter at Tarun's home-cum-office, where they consumed alcohol and then came out and allegedly started beating up the eatery owner. Agitated locals later surrounded Sonu's premises to make sure that they do not escape, said the officer.

Suddenly, three of them allegedly pulled out guns and started indiscriminate firing. They later fled the spot. Of the four persons who sustained bullet injuries, two - identified as Suman (12) and Ratan Singh Raghav - are stated to be in a critical condition, said the official.

The bullet which hit Suman, ruptured one kidney and the organ had to be removed. Ratan Singh sustained a bullet injury on his head and is set to undergo a series of surgeries.

"A case has been registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC. The police have identified five accused, including Sonu, so far and all of them are absconding," said DCP (East) B S Gurjar.
