Four killed in expressway accident

Four persons including three women were killed today and six others seriously injured when a luxury bus rammed into their car from the rear on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway here, police said.

The accident took place in the wee hours around 4 AM on the Expressway passing from Dajpura village in Kheda district when the car driver lost control after one of the tyres burst and was hit by the bus.

The deceased were identified as Lila Bhojak (65), Bhanu Bhojak (45), Sonal Bhojak (40) and Dharmendra Bhojak (40), police said.

The injured comprise the car driver Farookh Saiyad and five members belonging to two families related to each other.
 

According to police, the victims belong to two families of Amroli and Palanpur Patiya area of Surat. They had hired a car to visit the Ambaji temple in north Gujarat and left for the pilgrimage last night.

On learning about the accident, Mahemdavad police rushed to the spot. In his police complaint, Saiyad alleged that the unidentfied bus driver fled from the spot after the accident.
