Four persons were killed and another was critically injured today when a car carrying them dashed against a roadside tree in Odisha's Keonjhar district in the early hours, police said.
The accident happened near Saradhapur under the jurisidction of Sadar police station when the victims were returning to Keonjhar after attending a function at Rairangpur, the Inspector-in-Charge of Keonjhar Sadar police station, Smrutirekha Pradhan, said.
Police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot immediately, the police officer said.
They recovered the bodies and rescued the injured person from the mangled car with the help of a gas cutter, she said.
The injured person was sent to the district headquarters hospital here, she said.
