Four killed in road mishap in AP

Four persons were today killed and 18 others were injured when a jeep carrying them overturned on Jerella ghat road in Agency area of the district, police said.

The mishap occurred when the driver of the vehicle, which was overloaded, lost control over it while negotiating a sharp turn, said Chintapalle Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) R Raghavendra.

DSP said the passengers in jeep were going to Chintapalle for shopping.

The victims were identified as Gunnamma (30), S Bhemalamma (62), G Balaram (40) and J Ramarao (35).

Out of the 18 persons injured in the mishap, ten persons were shifted to Narsipatnam area hospital and rest at Chintapalle Hospital, the DSP said, adding they are out of danger.
 

The jeep was overburdened as a result of the strike by the Andhra Pradesh State Roard Transport Corporation (APSRTC).
