Four killed, nine injured in road mishap in Samba

Four persons including three women were killed and nine others injured when a trailer turned turtle and hit other vehicles and pedestrians on the Jammu Pathankot national highway in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A trailer that was on its way to Jammu from Kathua district turned turtle in Samba chowk on the Jammu Pathankot national highway at around 9 pm last night, a police officer said today.

He said the trailer hit other vehicles, shops and several pedestrians.

"Two vehicles were completely crushed under the trailer," the officer said.

He said four persons died on the spot, whereas nine others including an 18 month old girl was injured in the accident.
 

"All the injured were shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for treatment," the officer said.

While the identity of one of the deceased who is a female is yet to be ascertained, the other three have been identified as Munish Kumar (27), Reena (55) and Mehak (23), he said.

He said that a case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the driver of the trailer who managed to flee from the spot.
