Four Maoist cadre surrender

Four Maoists, including a woman, today surreneded before the police and sought rehabilitation.

Samir Munda alias Jarka (20), an armed cadre, Salmon Topno alias Jedgo Munda (25), Namjan Munda (20) and Munika Surin alias Munda (18) surrendered before Anirudh Singh, SP Rourkela and expressed their desire to return to normal life.

"They have been thoroughly disillusioned with Maoist philosophy. Besides, the kind of life they saw there have made them realise their fault for which they have returned to the mainstream," SK Mohanty, ASP Rourkela, said.

Mohanty also informed that the four were hardcore members of the organization. Samir was an armed cadre. "They were involved in number of crimes and they have many cases against their names in K Balang polcie station and they have confessed to their crime before us," Mohanty said.
 

The four joined the organization between 2010-12 and were involved in many heinous crimes.

While interacting the media persons, they said: "We were shown a very rosy picture and influenced to join and sometimes they also threatened with dire consequences if they fail to join, during several visit to their villages by Anmol alias Samarji and Ajay Kunu Dehuri.
