Four minor girls drown in pond

Four minor girls drowned in a pond at a village in Kutch district, police said today.

While the girls were on their way to fetch wood in Tuna village of Anjar taluka in Kutch district yesterday, one of the girls went near the pond to drink water and slipped into it.

The three others jumped into the pond to rescue her, but all of them drowned, police said.

The deceased were identified as Sati Savaben Bhil (17), Rasila Kamlesh Bhil (12), Ravina Lakha Bhil (10) and Jigna Lakha Bhil (8).

Later, villagers and police reached the spot and fished out the bodies, police said, adding that a case was registered in this regard.
