A four-month-old girl was allegedly strangled to death by her father at central Delhi's Chandni Mahal area, police said today.
The accused, Khaleel (30), has been arrested by police and presented before a court, which sent him to 14-days' judicial custody, said DCP (Central) Parmaditya.
Khaleel, who is presently unemployed, was suspected to be depressed over having five daughters, the deceased being the youngest of them. On Thursday night, after his wife went to sleep, he took the toddler to another room and allegedly strangled her to death, said the official.
It was his wife who reported the matter to the police and Khaleel was arrested immediately, the official added.
