Four NDFB(S) cadres identified as accused in Baksa kidnapping

Four NDFB(S) terrorists have been identified as the prime accused in the kidnapping and killing of four persons in Baksa district last week, an official release said today.

"It is learnt that the accused are Lengra alias Sahash, Biliphang, Gobla Basumatary and Soniram Daimari alias Saiklung. The accused are members of NDFB(S) group," Assam Police said in a statement.

Police has already arrested five persons, including one woman terrorist of the National Democratic Force of Boroland's Songbijit faction (NDFB)S, in connection with the case.

Security forces, comprising the police, CRPF and Army will continue its operations to nab the culprits.
 

Meanwhile, the curfew in the area was relaxed during the day but the restrictions for night that is, from 8pm to 8am will continue, a district administration official said.

Indefinite curfew has been imposed in Gobardhana and Anand Bazar police stations in Baksa as well as the northern side of railway line in Barpeta district since Saturday.

On Friday, seven persons, reportedly lemon traders, came to Labdanguri market in Baksa district from the adjacent Barpeta district, but four persons did not return home.

The bodies of the missing men were fished out of Hakuwa river and were identified as Ataur Rahman (27), Rubul Amin (45), Saddam Hussain (13) and Abu Bakkar Siddique (13).

Army has been on stand-by in the area since Saturday and conducted area dominance exercise on Sunday after three bodies were fished out. The first one was recovered on Saturday.

Assam government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 8 lakh for the families of each of those killed.
