All the four Naga People Front (NPF) MLAs of Manipur today submitted their resignations to Speaker Th Lokeswar Singh without citing any reasons for their decision.

The four members are S T Nunglun Victor, Samuel Risom, V Alexender Pou and Dikho, said Manipur Assembly liason officer (press, media) R K Bhagat Singh.

They submitted their resignations separately to the Speaker through the Secretary of Manipur Assembly K Meghajit Singh, he said.

While three of them came to the Assembly in the afternoon and submitted their resignations to Meghajit Singh, Dikho sent it through them, Bhagat Singh said adding that none of them mentioned any reason.

Victor is MLA from Chandel, Risom from Ukhrul while Pou and Dikho represent Karong and Mao respectively.

With the resignation of the four MLAs, the strength of Manipur house would be reduced to 54 if the Speaker accepted their resignations.

The four were present when the Assembly had passed the resolution welcoming the peace accord of the Centre with NSCN(IM) and on maintaining the territorial integrity of Manipur. While they had welcomed the accord, they did not agree to a portion of the resolution on the other.

The resolution was, however, passed by voice vote.

NPF is Nagaland-based and heads the DAN government in that state.

Three MLAs of Trinamool Congress were earlier expelled from the Assembly under the anti-defection law after they declared that they had formed the Manipur State Trinammol Congress - a new party. One of them, however, moved Manipur High Court and has obtained a stay of the speaker's order of expulsion.
