An old man was beaten to death with rods allegedly by four members of a family, over some petty issue in Alawalpur village, about 8 km from Bawal, police said today.
Ram Kishan, the nephew of victim Rama Nand, complained that his uncle was getting the wall of a temple plastered yesterday when water flowed down to one Karan Singh's house which infuriated him, they said.
Singh, his wife Jagwati and their sons Mahendra and Rakesh allegedly hit the old man with rods after which he died on the spot, police said.
On the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered in the matter by Bawal police, they said.
A senior police officer today said that efforts are on to apprehend the absconding accused.
