Four of a family killed in revenge attack

Four members of a family were today hacked to death allegedly in a revenge attack by a man whose wife was killed supposedly by a fellow of the same household five days ago on the suspicion of practising witchcraft at Chattani, about 25 km from here.

One Basko Tudu killed Thapa (35), Ramesh (28), elder brothers of Bhairo, accused of killing the woman, Ramesh's wife (20) and their sister Sonia Tudu (20) in the wee hours, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Musaboni) Ajit Vimal said.

Basko later surrendered to the gram pradhan who handed him over to the police.

Vimal quoting villagers said Thapa's two panic-striken children fled the scene following the incident. His wife died a long ago.
 

On January 15, Basko's 45-year-old wife Bali was axed to death allegedly by Bhairo on the suspicision of the couple practising witchcraft at Pathardanga in East Singhbhum district, he said.

Bhairo was arrested and has been remanded in judicial custody.
