Four members of a family, including two children, were charred to death when a fire gutted their hut in the wee hours today.
The incident took place at Edamalaipattipudur when the couple and their two children were fast asleep, police said.
Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames after fighting for an hour and retrieved the bodies.
The cause of the fire is not known yet and the incident is under investigation, they added.
